Usually calorie intake when losing weight means harsh reduction in food eaten and a vast chasm from what you normally consume. Don't do it, you're setting yourself up for failure. If your goal is to lower calories as an easy way to lose weight then a gradual change is what you need. A leap from a juicy 500 calorie hamburgers to 100 calorie salads is to big a stretch and usually the wrong way of losing weight. Rather: Switch from hamburger to ground white turkey with just 1 gram of fat/serving. Doesn't that make more sense? You have dropped at least 200 calories and possibly 20 grams of fat with a change you can live with. Anything you can do with hamburger you can do with ground turkey. And if you need to eat meat it's easy to cook and a relatively easy way to lose weight. Just stay away from ground turkey with dark meat, you can be getting as much as 18+ grams of saturated fat/serving. ”Calorie Intake to Lose Weight begins with Subtle Changes”I have been telling you for years that you can include veggies like cauliflower in your diet by sub-ing them instead of potatoes. Here's a simple losing weight recipe: Steam or cook cauliflower for about 10 minutes or a bit longer, but not so long it gets mushy. Get out your portable mixer blend the florets until they are the consistency of mashed potatoes. While blending add a natural form of butter or real unsalted butter. I usually add 2 tablespoons and add a low fat cheese, no more than 2 ounces!!! You have a delicious treat loaded with vitamins and minerals.

Now, I suppose you are wanting to know what is the optimum calorie intake for losing weight for your height and weight. No, I'm not going to give you a table of how many calories you should be consuming for your height and weight. Rather, what you'll need to do is determine on average how many calories you're consuming each day and drop down to 100 calories lower then the norm of what you consume right now. This isn't going to be an exact science so don't dust off your calculator. Estimate, then go ahead and either sub-out a high calorie food for a low one. Or cut your high calorie food in half. That is the surest way to losing weight immediately. For example: Generally, if you eat 10 to 12 ounces of hot dish or 6 to 10 ounces of meatloaf and a large baked potato. Calorie intake losing weight will diminish by 1/2 if you serve up 5 or 6 ounces of hot dish. Or have 3 to 5 ounces of meatloaf and eat only half of the baked potato and especially, 1/2 of the butter and sour cream. Should you not feel satisfied eat a large green salad before you eat your half serving. Stay on that course until you feel comfortable with less of the high calorie foods.
OK, at this point you can safely get rid of some of the high calorie and fat foods for good. Or at least eat them only once a month. Now, you're also ready to drop down to eating at less another 100 calories. Keep doing that until you are at a calorie intake level you are comfortable with the one where you are burning up the calories and losing weight. But you are still satisfied with the diet you have chosen.
